I’ve read mixed opinions about whether queen ants need light for egg-laying or colony growth. Some say they need darkness to thrive, while others say a little light can be beneficial. I keep my Lasius queen in a dark, quiet spot, but I’ve been wondering if I should expose her to light for part of the day. Does anyone have experience with this? How much light, if any, should I provide for queen ants? Does it help with egg production or development, or is darkness truly best?

According to my knowledge, Queen Ants needs both darkness and light. Queen Ants lay their eggs in the dark and they need light to hatch. Queen Ants lay their eggs in the light.
